The folks at Zone Labs, who produce ZoneAlarm PRO (for those who employ this programme) have released an update to the firewall utility.

1. Close down all programmes, other than your browser, remembering to save any data, documents, etc.
2. Employing your Internet Explorer browser, click on the red Download Now button.
3. Click Open.
4. Allow the ZoneAlarm Pro update to be downloaded, and wait for the ZoneAlarm Pro Installation dialogue box to come up. Click Next.
5. On the following screen, make sure that the first and third boxes contain information. Uncheck the “I Want To Register …” and “Inform Me …” radio buttons. Click Next.
6. Make sure the Upgrade radio button is selected. Click Next.
7. In the next box, check the “I Accept Terms …” box. Click Install. Wait.
8. When the Zone Labs TrueVector service dialogue box comes up, click Yes. Wait while your ZoneAlarm Pro update is installed.
9. The next box that will come up is a User Survey box. Click the down arrow to the right of each of the four questions, and apply the information appropriate for you. Choose Novice for the answer to the second question, to avoid having Zone Labs reconfigure your ZoneAlarm Pro with features which you either may not understand, nor wish to have installed (e.g. Web filtering, which – believe me – you don’t want to install). Click Finish.
10. When the Install dialogue box comes asking you to complete the installation and restart the computer, click OK.
11. When the computer has restarted, a Program Wizard dialogue box will come up. Under the question, “Do you want ZoneAlarm Pro, with Web Filtering, to preconfigure access permission?” make sure that the “Yes, automatically configure any programs that match Zone Labs’ safe programs list” radio button has been selected. Click Finish. Wait.
12. Answer any questions that may come up with a Yes. Otherwise, wait for the ZoneAlarm Pro with Web Filtering dialogue box to come up. Click the “X” in the top left-hand corner of the dialogue box, and the ZoneAlarm Pro icon will once again appear in your system tray, bottom right.
Congratulations, you have just installed the latest, updated version, of ZoneAlarm Pro.
